Who Are Our Reading Ambassadors?

Reading Ambassadors are Y5 and Y6 pupils who have applied for the role and have then been selected based on their exemplary qualities, including:
  • A consistently positive attitude towards learning
  • A strong commitment to their own reading development
  • Patience, resilience and a willingness to support others

What Do They Do?

  • Demonstrate and model excellent reading habits
  • Promote and enhance reading for pleasure across the school
  • Assist pupils in completing their pupil planners accurately
  • Maintain and organise school library spaces
  • Support and participate in book-related events and activities
  • Being a spokesperson for reading initiatives (pupil voice)

Why It Matters

  • Encourages a positive reading culture and fosters a love of reading.
  • Provides peer support, making reading more accessible and enjoyable.
  • Helps maintain reading provision, improving access to resources.
  • Builds leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Develops patience, resilience, and teamwork through supporting others.
  • Strengthens Ambassadors’ own reading habits and confidence.
