This idea was suggested by two pupils, Diyon and Precious, who wanted to help everyone learn more about our school and feel confident asking questions. Questions were developed based on feedback from our Rights Respecting Ambassadors about what pupils want to know.

WHO ARE THE TEACHERS IN SCHOOL?

You can find a list of all our teachers on this page so you know who is who.

WHERE WILL MY CLASSROOM BE?

Pupils are shown around school on their first day to help them to find their way around and see where each class is based.

WHAT HAPPENS ON MY FIRST DAY?

On your first day, your teacher and other staff will be there to welcome you and help you settle in.

They will show you:

Where your classroom is
Where to put your belongings
Who the adults in your class are

You will meet other children, take part in some activities and begin to learn your new routines. Everyone understands that starting somewhere new can feel a bit different, so we will take care of you and help you feel comfortable.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO SCHOOL EACH DAY?

Most equipment is provided.

You should bring:

A water bottle
Your reading book and reading record
A school bag to keep your things safe
Anything your teacher has asked for (e.g. PE kit on the correct days)

Make sure everything is clearly named so it doesn’t get lost.

WHO CAN HELP ME IF I AM WORRIED OR STUCK?

There are lots of people who can help you, including:

Your class teacher
Teaching assistants
Our Buddies (friendly children who help others)
Our Ambassadors (children who are trained in different skills)
Staff who help with things like technology
Technology devices that support learning

WHO CAN I TALK TO IF I FEEL WORRIED, UNHAPPY OR NERVOUS?

You can talk to:

Your class teacher
A teaching assistant
Any trusted adult in school
A Safeguarding Lead in school

We also have ways you can share how you feel, such as the Worry Box. We are always here to listen and help you.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

WHAT UNIFORM DO I NEED TO WEAR?

WHEN WILL I NEED TO WEAR MY PE KIT?

Your teacher will tell you your PE days, and you can also check the timetable here.

DO WE USE TECHNOLOGY IN SCHOOL?

Yes! You may be able to use devices like laptops to support your learning. Some year groups get to borrow laptops to take home to continue their learning.

We also have other technology opportunities like an immersive Experience Hub.

HOW DOES THE SCHOOL KEEP US SAFE ONLINE?

We help you stay safe online by:

Teaching you how to use technology safely in lessons
Using secure systems and filters on school devices
Having trusted adults who can help if you are unsure
Providing ways to ask questions, like our Online Safety Box

We encourage everyone to think carefully, ask for help and make safe choices when using technology

HOW DOES THE SCHOOL SUPPORT CHILDREN WITH DIFFERENT NEEDS?

At Bantock, we support every child to succeed. We do this by:

Adapting lessons to meet different needs
Providing extra support where needed
Using helpful tools and technology
Working closely with parents and carers

Our staff make sure every child feels included, supported and able to do their best.

WHAT REWARDS CAN I GET?

You might receive:

House points
Dojo Points
Stickers
Certificates and special awards in assembly

WHAT ARE HOUSE TEAMS?

Every child belongs to a House Team. You earn house points for your team and help them win!

The teams are:

Griffin
Pheonix
Dragon
Hipogriff

HOW WILL MY PARENT/CARER KNOW HOW I AM DOING?

We keep parents and carers informed in a number of ways:

Three Parent’s Evenings each year
Two Next Step Reports and an end of year written school report
Regular communication from teachers
Half-termly newsletters sharing learning and updates

Parents and carers can also contact school if they have any questions.

WHAT CLUBS AND SPORTS CAN I JOIN?

We offer a range of clubs and sports throughout the year. These might change, your teacher will let you know what is available each term.

WHAT SPECIAL EVENTS OR CELEBRATIONS DO WE HAVE?

We have lots of exciting events, including:

Celebration days
Themed learning days
School trips
Visitors

WHAT ARE THE DINNER OPTIONS?

You can choose from a range of school meals each day. Menus will be shared so you know your options. Our menu is shared on this page.

WHAT AND WHO ARE AMBASSADORS?

Ambassadors are pupils who help improve the school and represent others. You can find out more about them here.

HOW DO I BECOME AN AMBASSADOR?

The different types of Ambassadors are selected in different ways. Some are through an application, some are voted for and some are selected by the teacher based on strengths that pupils show. Your teacher will let you know when an Ambassador role is available.
