School Health and Safety

View the Bantock School Risk Assessment here.

In order to comply with government guidelines, anybody on the school premises will be required to implement strict social distancing measures. This will include:

  • Staggering the times each Year group starts.
  • Staggering the times each Year group finishes.
  • SCHOOL WILL CLOSE EARLY TO PUPILS EVERY FRIDAY TO ENSURE ALL CLASSROOMS RECEIVE A THOROUGH CLEAN.
  • Adopting a “one-way” system when parents drop off and collect children.
  • A 2-metre rule to be enforced whilst parents are on school premises or outside the school gate. To help with this we will have markers on the playground.
  • Parents wishing to talk to school about any queries or questions regarding their children, are to ring the school office. If a meeting is required with the teacher, this can be arranged observing social distancing rules. If you need to attend a meeting, please ensure there is only one household in the main entrance at any one time.
  • Staggering break and lunchtimes for each class to minimise contact with other pupils and staff.
  • Children sitting at individual desks with no more than 10 pupils per class.
  • Children being taught by the same adult/s throughout the day in the same classroom.
  • Each pupil having their own tray, resources, books, tissues and water bottle.
  • Removing any resources that cannot be easily cleaned and ensuring any resources that are used are regularly cleaned and sprayed with disinfectant.
  • Regular cleaning of all areas used by staff and children each day.
  • Regular routine of hand washing throughout the day and access to hand sanitiser.
  • Adhering to social distancing rules when eating at lunchtime.
It is important to ensure we are aware of our own situations and threats close to our environments and act accordingly.

The e-Bug project is led by Public Health England and has a dedicated webpage for learning resources on hand washing and respiratory hygiene. E-Bug has published posters on hand hygiene, and covering coughs and sneezes, to display in bathrooms, classrooms and shared spaces. The hand and respiratory hygiene posters and other educational resources can be found here: https://e-bug.eu
